12-20 Scotland Tour 2012
On Saturday, May 12th, Tullamore departs with fifty friends, fans, and family on a nine-day, four-concert bus-tour of Scotland - their second concert-tour of the country, and their second bus-tour in as many years. They'll be joined by guest-artist Hugh Morrison, a Scottish accordionist now living in Houston. The tour will spend two nights in Glasgow, Inverness, and Edinburgh and one magnificent night at Dalhousie Castle while passing through Stirling, Alloway, Falkirk, Fort William, Elgin, Nairn, Pitlochry, and Dunfermline. The tour's itinerary includes stops at Stirling Castle, the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum, the Falkirk Wheel, Urquhart Castle, the Glenfiddich Distillery, the Speyside Cooperage, Culloden Battlefield, Dunfermline Abbey, and these performances:
14 Laurie's Acoustic Music Bar, Glasgow.
After a day spent visiting the home of Scotland's national bard, Robert Burns, the tour returns to Glasgow and winds up the evening at Laurie's Acoustic Music Bar, the city's centre of live traditional, folk, world, jazz, jug, country and bluegrass music. Laurie's has been the originator and mainstay of the Celtic Connections fringe and a strong supporter of folk festivals and traditional music, and it is also the home of the former Riverside Club Ceilidh, still run by Mary Laurie.
16 Hootananny's, Inverness.
At the end of a day-long drive from Bonnyrigg that includes a visit to Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle, the tour lands in the capital city of the Highlands. Hootanannys is a traditional Scottish pub in the heart of the Inverness, and is the home to live, ceilidh, roots, folk, traditional, and world music in the Highlands. Not only can you get fantastic Thai food, the best in locally produced ales from the Black Isle Brewery, and a fine selection of malt whiskeys... there is also live music every night beginning at 9:30 (tonight from Tullamore).
17 Nairn Community and Arts Centre, Nairn.
After a round-trip through the history of Culloden, the wonder of the Spey Valley Whiskey trail, and the magnificence of Elgin, the tour winds up in Nairn for a concert at the Nairn Community and Arts Centre. The bright and beautiful Centre has become a vital part of this seaside resort community, and is leading the way in promoting arts and culture in addition to the more traditional community centre activities.
